When Lustrarte took its first steps in 1974, Ana Faria was five, the eldest of the brand founders’ three children. You could say she grew up playing among production machines, assembly benches, and warehouse shelves, learning early what it means to be the daughter of an entrepreneur.

As a child, she split her time between helping care for her younger siblings and keeping up at school. She also loved watching her father design lamps and seeing those drawings turn into real pieces on the factory floor.

Materials and Mastery

With a lasting love for architecture, Ana earned a degree in Industrial Design in the early ’90s.

Her eagerness to learn about materials and production techniques, paired with a bold, determined temperament (often the source of spirited debates with her father), ultimately deepened his trust in her. Those years gave her a strong grasp of decorative lighting and an uncommon enthusiasm for the industry, with all its creative and transformative processes.

Legacy and Principles

Her father’s sudden and painful passing in 1998 placed the profound weight of Lustrarte’s intangible heritage on her shoulders. She matched that legacy with know-how, rigor, and an inexhaustible passion that will endure.

As she often says, “we’re moved by dreams,” and “challenges exist to be overcome.” With that spirit, she preserves the wisdom and experience of a team spanning generations, dedicated people and true masters of brassworking, whom she affectionately calls “the artisans of dreams.”

“Design always has two dimensions: function and aesthetics. If either one is missing, it isn’t design.”

- Ana Faria

Matter and Method

From the very beginning, Lustrarte’s commitment starts with materials. The nobility and longevity of brass give our pieces timeless value.

Quality and attention to detail run through the entire creative process, starting at the drawing stage. Production is deliberately careful and relies on a strong, almost artisanal, manual component. Metal spinning, precise brazing, and the finesse of our finishes stem from know-how our people have built over the years and together they define the signature character of Lustrarte lamps.

Global Presence

Lustrarte is recognized worldwide for nautical and rustic inspiration. Our pieces light and decorate homes and restaurants in nearly every European country, from Portugal to Russia. You’ll also find Lustrarte in many countries beyond Europe, including Japan, Australia, the United States, and Canada.

Hospitality and Bespoke Projects

More recently, Lustrarte has moved into hospitality and bespoke lighting, working across a wide range of materials and styles, always with the Lustrarte seal of quality. This area now accounts for a steadily growing share of the business.

Lamps bearing the Lustrarte label can now be found in a growing number of hotels throughout Europe, the US, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa and even aboard numerous cruise ships crossing seas and oceans every day.
